Deepwater wind provided an update on their wind farm project off the coast of Block Island at AWEA Offshore Windpower 2014 event yesterday .

Jeff Grybowski, CEO of Deepwater Wind said: “We are nine months away from the installation of our first foundations.”

According to some media, Grybowski has just returned from the negotiations for Block Island foundation contract.

Recently, the project secured the final federal approval needed for the construction of what could be USA’s first offshore wind farm.

Comprising five Alstom 6 MW turbines, the wind farm will generate enough electricity to power over 17.000 homes.
