Royal IHC’s Hi-Traq subsea trencher has entered the competition for the Mechanical Product of the Year Award at the British Engineering Excellence Awards, which takes place tomorrow in London.
The four-tracked subsea trencher has been designed and developed specifically for shallow water operations and targeted towards cable burial in offshore wind farms.
The Hi-Traq was introduced, earlier this year, at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland which was attended by offshore wind industry professionals from the UK, Europe and the USA.
According to the company’s statement, this new remotely operated vehicle has been developed to be the most efficient tracked trencher, capable of tackling the full range of challenges typically faced in this application.
British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) celebrate UK companies and individuals that have demonstrated the skills, invention and dedication not only to compete, but to succeed on an international stage.
This year’s entries will be judged by an expert panel chaired by Andrew Burrows, Chief Technology Officer of i2O Water.
The Awards will be held at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London on 9th October.
