Global Diving, part of the Global Energy Group, has made a several new appointments as it prepares to kick off dive operations worldwide.A £7million investment in a cutting edge offshore dive system has been supported by the recruitment of five new Aberdeen-based team members.

The company, has been formed to support inspection, enhancement, maintenance and life of field extension solutions through innovation in diving, rope access and alternative access.

Joining dive manager Alan Melia, who was recruited by Global earlier this year, is Laura Notman in operations support, project manager Bob Kingdom, asset manager Tom Marr, underwater inspection manager Kevin Mottram and lead engineer Daniel Reid.

Stuart Paterson , managing director of Global Energy Group Access and Coatings, said: “Over the last four months we have been putting the foundations in place with the investment in equipment and it is fantastic to be building upon those with the new appointments. I’m delighted to welcome Laura, Bob, Tom, Kevin and Daniel to the team.

“The five new appointments all bring with them vast levels of industry experience and each member will have an integral part to play in the future development of the company; it is an exciting proposition. “Our purpose-built new dive system, designed to our exacting specifications, has arrived and we’re aiming to begin testing and demonstrations at the start of September with a view to having it fully operational by the turn of the year.

“We know there is an increasing demand for dive services within the offshore oil, gas and renewable sectors and we’re working tirelessly to provide a quality and safety focused offering to our current and prospective clients. The dive team will be integral to the business plan for Global’s access and coatings solutions, with a worldwide reach and a commitment to leading the way in life of field extension activity.”

The team has been tasked with fine-tuning the company’s new multi-million pound system, with rigorous testing set to be completed in early September. The equipment, enabling the team to provide a mix of air and nitrox diving services, is scheduled to be mobilised in commercial operations by the end of the year. A new daughter craft, which will be the first of a number of vessels built to support its operations, is due for delivery at the start of 2015.
