The Offshore WIND Installation and Maintenance Conference takes place on 29 October in Amsterdam. The afternoon program of the discusses the challenges in supply chain and operational management and paints a picture with global business opportunities. The conference addresses the technical, operational, commercial and managerial challenges associated with future industry growth.

Supply Chain management

Optimization of logistical processes are key in reducing costs, both in the installation and in the maintenance phase of a project. This session will discuss best practices along the value chain, giving insights from different perspectives – an operator’s, a contractor’s, a port’s and a service provider’s. This supply chain and operational management session will also pay attention to marine warranty guidelines associated with various phases in offshore wind operations. Remco Boersma of Vattenfall speaks from experience and will touch upon practicalities. He will answer questions like ‘once a project is commissioned and in full operation, what are the tools, what are the levers to reduce cost? And what are the levers to optimize power production?

Global Business Opportunities

With energy demand continuously on the rise the prospects for offshore wind are globally growing. In the Global Business Opportunities session Bastiaan van Wijk, Consultant at Ecofys presents a picture of the business potential in India. With India’s economic growth and raising standards of living, new energy sources are required to meet future demand. Today, around 30% of the installed electricity capacity is based on renewables (incl. hydro) and governments have expressed ambitions to extend the share of renewables. Craig Brown of Keystone Engineering Inc overviews the intricacies and opportunities in US supply chain development and Dirk Briese, managing director of trend:research will talk about the upcoming European markets.

Networking opportunities

During the afternoon there are plenty of opportunities to catch up with familiar faces from the industry during lunch in breaks and at the concluding networking reception.
