An important milestone has been passed for the Eldfisk II project, ConocoPhillips has informed. In October the jack-up rig Mærsk Innovator started drilling activities on Eldfisk 2/7 S, in the North Sea, offshore Norway.
There are a total of 40 well slots on the new integrated platform Eldfisk 2/7 S. Five wells have been pre-drilled, and the drilling operations of the remaining 35 wells has now begun.
The drilling activities on Eldfisk 2/7 S will continue for several years.
“We are now working actively and focused on optimising the drilling operations as well as making them more efficient. We are doing this is partnership with the drilling company and suppliers,” says Rune Woie , well operations manager.
The Eldfisk 2/7 Platform was lifted in place on the field earlier this year. It will be mechanically completed in the fourth quarter of 2014. The plan is to start production in 2015.,
Eldfisk II The objective of the Eldfisk II project is to increase recovery and maintain secure and stable production, as well as to continue operating the remotely operated Embla field, which is tied into Eldfisk via a pipeline. Eld fisk II is a continued development of the infrastructure in a mature area with continuous production since 1979. Eldfisk II significantly increases the recovery rate from the Eldfisk field.
The project includes Eldfisk 2/7 S, a new integrated platform with wellhead and processing plants, new wells and an accommodation unit. A total of 40 new wells will be drilled. Other main elements of the project include a new local equipment module, new pipelines, a new electrical and control cable and extensive modifications to existing plants and infrastructure on the Eldfisk field. Eldfisk is an oilfield which also contains gas. It is the second largest field in the Greater Ekofisk Area, located approximately 20 kilometres southwest of Ekofisk.
