Statoil has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to use Songa Dee for well plugging at Gullfaks Sør, in the North Sea.
Statoil is the operator at Gullfaks Sør, located in block 34/10 in the northern part of the North Sea. The field has been developed using a subsea solution tied back to the Gullfaks A and C platforms. Production on the field began in October 1998.
Statoil has now received consent to use the Songa Dee semi-submersible drilling rig to plug exploration well 34/10-52 A/B permanently. The well was drilled and temporarily plugged in 2011.
