Aberdeen based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has last week hosted Conservative MEP for Scotland, Dr Ian Duncan, as part of a fact-finding mission into the oil and gas industry.

As part of Dr Duncan’s visit, he toured the company’s 50,000 sq ft purpose built state-of-the-art workshop and warehouse facility, The Hangar.

Dr Duncan also met with a number of staff from the company, learning about the achievements and successes that Bibby Offshore has experienced since its inception in 2003, and experiencing first-hand the work that goes on in the oil and gas industry.

David Sheret , General Manager – Global Business Development of Bibby Offshore, said: “Ministerial visits are vital for the continued investment in the development of the energy industry, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome a Member of the European Parliament.

“Bibby Offshore is going from strength to strength and over the last decade we have grown considerably both nationally and internationally. This year alone we have opened a new base in Newcastle and Stavanger, Norway, with our activity in Houston is also increasing significantly due to the growing global demand for the company’s expertise.”

Duncan’s visit also involved a discussion with Oonagh Werngren, Oil & Gas UK’s Operations Director, about the state of the industry, receiving an overview of the opportunities and challenges that the UKCS is facing.

Dr Ian Duncan MEP , said: “As a former analyst at BP, I am incredibly interested in Scotland’s energy industry, and believe it to be one of our economic success stories. Bibby Offshore’s developments and accomplishments illustrate this success wholeheartedly, and being able to talk to the staff during the visit allowed me to witness the fantastic work that goes on in the industry.

“I was hugely impressed with the company’s state of the art workshop and warehouse, ‘The Hangar’. The ability to specialise in so many areas is of crucial importance to the Oil and Gas industry, and Bibby Offshore is setting a fine example.”
