The Alder is a high-pressure and high-temperature gas condensate field located in Block 15/29a of the UK Continental Shelf.

The field lies in a water depth of 150 meters in the central North Sea and it’s presenting its own set of technically challenging requirements.

Among them, a critical link that must run 17 miles (27 km) between Alder and the Britannia Platform. The video shows how Chevron is working with the U.K. supply chain to leverage innovative umbilical technology and support the development of the field’s subsea system.

Last year in July, Technip was awarded a contract for engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the complete subsea system of Alder. Contractual scope includes the supply of main subsea manifold, subsea isolation valve manifold, pipe-in-pipe flow line, hybrid umbilical and the tie-in spools.

The contract is executed by Technip’s operating centre in Aberdeen, UK. Genesis, a subsidiary of Technip Group, is responsible for the detailed design under the contract. The pipe-in-pipe is fabricated at Technip’s Evanton spoolbase, Scotland.

The hybrid umbilical is manufactured by Technip’s subsidiary Technip Umbilicals (DUCO) in Newcastle, England.

Technip’s vessels, including the pipelay vessel Deep Energy, will be used for offshore construction.
