Blackbird International Corporation’s affiliate, Wave Electricity Renewable Power Ocean (WERPO), having received the rights for all of SDE Ltd’s technological property, patents, expertise and contracts, has taken control of SDE’s endeavors in China.

It has been authorized to further work with the Chinese government on a wave pilot project as part of a larger effort.

A second power plant producing electricity from sea waves has been shipped to China according to an initial agreement of $0.8M. Another Agreement of $1.2M was signed by which two additional power plants of 500kW each will be fabricated. The power plants are built in Israel except for the buoys that will be built in China by a local company owned by the partnership of WEPRO and the Chinese government as a main shareholder. The power plant will be installed in Hainan Island, which is the biggest island in China and located 30 km from the Guangdong region. The power plant is capable of producing 150kW per hour.

China especially needs the implementation of WERPO’s technology due to the very high rates of pollution. The World Bank reported that 16 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are located in China. Therefore the Chinese government made it a top priority to reduce pollution by using renewable energy sources.
