Gippsland Ports, designated waterway manager of 1,431 sq km of some of the largest and most beautiful waterways in Australia, is seeking offers for the supply of a suitable Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD).

The supply (new/existing) is for service (time charter), or lease (bareboat charter) arrangements for a period of up to 20 years, which is to be used for a long term ocean access maintenance dredging programme, the Gippsland Lake Ocean Access.

The GLOA Programme, located in the Bass Strait at Lakes Entrance, Victoria, seeks to maintain a navigable entrance to the Port of Gippsland Lakes.

GLOA is being implemented by Gippsland Ports and comprises a number of distinct elements including:

Annual GLOA maintenance dredging of the Entrance Bar and channels immediately inside the Entrance was completed in 2011, 2012 and 2013 using TSHD Pelican, operated under contract by Van Oord.
