Representative-elect David Rouzer (NC-07) yesterday toured a project at Topsail Beach that he says provides a commonsense solution to two problems: boats having trouble navigating the shallow inlet and the beach slowly washing into the water.

As part of the $10 million project, crews are dredging sand from the inlet and pumping it onto the beach.

Topsail Beach Mayor Howard Braxton said that he expects crews to complete the project by late March, just in time for tourist season.
