Petrobras has on Monday (December 8, 2014) started transporting the hull of P-66, which is a first in a series of eight FPSOs to be constructed for meeting the demands of oil production in Brazil.
After leaving Rio Grande Shipyard 1 (ERG-1), located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the hull is now on its way to the Brasfels Shipyard in Angra dos Reis, in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro state. The company estimates that the hull will reach the location on December 18, 2014.
The modules will be installed on the hull and equipment and systems will be integrated, interconnected and tested in Brasfels. According to Petrobras, the P-66 is the first FPSO of its kind to be entirely built in Brazil.
The P-66 FPSO will be deployed on the Lula field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. Petrobras is the operator with 65% stake; BG E & P Brazil has 25% interest, and Petrogal Brazil has 10% stake.
