The Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Building has issued investment approval for the units to be erected by Energinet.dk in order to connect the forthcoming offshore wind turbines at Kriegers Flak in the Baltic Sea to the onshore electricity grid.

The approval allows Energinet.dk to enter into contracts for a total of 200 km of submarine and land cables, two offshore substations, a new substation on land and expansions of existing substations, which the grid connection will consist of.

The unit is erected as a 220 kV AC system and is budgeted at DKK 3.5 billion.

The unit must be ready to receive electricity from the first of a total of 600 MW offshore wind turbines at the end of 2018.
