Meeting Held for Korsakov Dredging Project

Last Thursday a public meeting was held at the FSUE “Rosmorport” Sakhalin Branch offices to discuss materials on environmental impact assessment for the project “Repair dredging in Korsakov seaport for a period of 5 years”.

Administration of municipal entity of the Korsakov Region, the Sakhalin Branch officers and representatives of project organizations participated in the meeting.

The Sakhalin Branch is planning to realize the project in order to maintain rated depths at berths No. 1 – 4 of the South area and at berths No. 4 – 8 of the North area of Korsakov seaport.

Following the public meeting results, no negative positions or negative attitude to the planned activities among public were revealed. The maintenance dredging project in Korsakov seaport will be conducted in accordance with strict requirements of ecological and industrial safety.

Now the project documentation has been forwarded to Rosprirodnadzor in order to arrange the place where the state ecological experts will discuss the project.

Beginning of the works is planned right after the project receives positive recommendations from the experts.
