Sub-Atlantic has secured three international contracts with a combined value of over £3.5 million for the manufacture of three specialist remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

The firm will provide IKM Subsea in Norway, Italy’s Globe Exploration and Total Marine Technology of Australia with observation class vehicles that are widely used across the offshore energy and defence industries.

Sub-Atlantic, which is part of the Forum Energy Technologies group, has its operations hub in Aberdeen and a manufacturing base in Kirbymoorside, Yorkshire. The company designs and manufactures electric ROV systems and components for operation in harsh environments.

This announcement follows a significant investment in the group’s Kirbymoorside facility to create a manufacturing centre of excellence. The company is also on a recruitment drive to boost its operational workforce in Aberdeen and add 20 manufacturing jobs in Yorkshire where it employs 300 people.

Ryan Lumsden , global product director for Sub-Atlantic, said: “By bringing Sub-Atlantic’s manufacturing capabilities alongside the Perry facility in Kirbymoorside and investing significantly in additional resources, plant and machinery, we have created a real centre of excellence which brings together our combined expertise and innovation and is unrivalled within our industry globally.

“Aberdeen remains a crucial centre of operations for us and we are looking to strengthen the team there to ensure we continue to meet our client’s needs.”
