Royal IHC, focused on the continuous development of design and construction activities for the specialist maritime sector, had a few speakers at the recent IMCA Annual Seminar, highlighting the company’s marine expertise.

The IMCA Annual Seminar 2014 was held at the Landmark Hotel in London in late November, on the theme ‘ Where next for the offshore and marine industry?’.

IMCA Chief Executive, Chris Charman , who kicked off the opening morning of the seminar, gave his view of the event: “ IMCA members were delighted with the content and delivery of this year’s seminar. The route map for IMCA’s strategic direction is drawn up at these meetings, and the widest possible range of contributions is vital – which is why the event is never static. ”

Martin Bingham and Ronald van Son of Royal IHC gave a presentation entitled “ Coming to Brazil – ten new deepwater pipelaying vessels “. Coming from the perspective of getting more value from vessel & equipment, they outlined the Royal IHC philosophy on this.

Improvements to crew safety, improving vessel and equipment performance, and improving operational uptime all led to better value. The presentation concluded with outline detail of some of the technical and engineering details and solutions required to deliver these vessels.

Johan de Bie of Royal IHC spoke about “ Developments in control and automation for surface demand diving systems ”. The presentation described some of the main components of a new surface supplied dive system including a recently developed air diving monitoring system capable of monitoring and registering complete dive profiles – including surface interval and decompression chamber times.

Next year the IMCA Annual Seminarwe will be in the Middle East and it will be another essential event to attend.
