Naftogaz of Ukraine and Polish company Gaz-System have signed an agreement to construct a gas interconnection pipeline between Poland and Ukraine, which will enable Ukraine to pump from the EU about 10 billion cubic meters of gas.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk revealed this information at a press conference following the Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations chaired by the Head of the Government of Ukraine and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Ewa Kopacz on Monday, January 19.
Yatsenyuk noted that it is not gas reverse, “but it means an access to gas from the LNG terminals that have already been built in Klaipeda, Lithuania, and Poland.”
It also refers to the access of Ukraine to the German gas market as one of the most powerful and efficient markets in the European Union, added Yatsenyuk.
According to him, the interconnection pipeline would extend 110 kilometers, with feasibility study’s completion expected in the first half of the year.
