Norway’s NLI Offshore & Marine Products received an order for 6 reels from Nexans for BP Shah Deniz stage 2 DEH batch 2.

NLI designs reels especially suited for powercables, deepwater mooring, spiralstrand, flexible riser and umbilicals.

NLI also delivered reels for phase 1 in 2013. The product of the reels will be DEH cable.

Direct electrical heating (DEH) is a flow assurance technology developed to safeguard the well stream through the flowline to the platform.

Alternating current transmitted via the cables returns through the steel in the pipe, which heats up due to its own electrical resistance.
