Mojo Maritime and IKM Subsea have secured an EU Horizon 2020 Grant to develop an ROV which would be used in high energy tidal sites and operated from Mojo’s energy vessel HF4.
Mojo Maritime, British tidal energy developer, and IKM, Norwegian ROV manufacturer, joined forces in mid-2014 to bid for EU funding, from the Maritime Technologies (MARTEC II) call, to develop a HF ROV (remotely operated vehicle) capable of being operated from the HF4 in high energy tidal sites, Mojo Maritime’s press release reads.
The works on the HF ROV began on January 5, 2015 and are expected to be continued throughout 2015. HF ROV is expected to be able to operate from both HF4 and OCV’s in a range of offshore operations and conditions. The project is worth EUR 1.200.000.
Mojo Maritime designed and developed the HF4, an offshore construction vessel (OCV) capable of lifting heavy tidal turbines, and of dynamically positioning in up 10 knots of tidal stream.
IKM Subsea is an independent ROV operator with experience in the designing, building and operation of modern WROVs.
Mojo is currently working with Hammonia Reedeira to select a yard to build HF4, and the anticipated delivery date is late 2016.
