Ofgem has decided to grant an offshore transmission licence for the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm to a proposed licensee entity set up by a consortium comprising Balfour Beatty Investments Limited and Equitix Limited.

Ofgem noted that the final confirmation of its decision has not yet been made.

Gwynt y Môr is a greater than £2billion offshore wind farm which is capable of generating enough energy from home grown wind sources to power the equivalent of approximately 400,000 homes – around a third of the total number of homes in all of Wales.
