LNG carrier BW GDF Suez Boston recently suffered mechanical failure off Caribbean Martinique Island in the Atlantic ocean .

The vessel is currently approximately 50 nautical miles northeast off Martinique with reduced power due to technical problems related to its high-pressure main turbine, BW said in an e-mailed statement to LNG World News.

According to the statement, the LNG carrier has normal electrical power generation and all of its other systems are fully operational.

A dedicated team has been established onshore and is working closely with the crew onboard and service engineers to prioritize repairs, with tug assistance in place.

Both crew and cargo are safe, and the 138,059 cbm vessel poses no risk to its environment, the statement added.

BW GDF Suez Boston was built in 2003 and its a part of BW’s fleet of 18 owned or operated LNG tankers.
