MPI Adventure has installed the first of eighty Siemens 3.6MW turbines for E.On Renewables’ Amrumbank offshore wind farm, located 35 kilometers to the north of the island of Helgoland.

“We are confident that we will soon be able to feed electricity generated by the first turbines into the public grid as planned,” said Dominik Schwegmann, lead project manager of Amrumbank West.

Furthermore, MPI Discovery is closing out the foundation installation campaign on the same project, only few miles away from its sister vessel.

MPI Offshore has been managing the installation work for E.On since the start of a long-term alliance, centred around a six-year charter of MPI Discovery . The vessel has been installing monopiles across the Humber Gateway Project and Amrumbank since summer 2013.

MPI Discovery has another eight complete foundations to install before returning to the newly acquired MPI Offshore Tees Base, while MPI Adventure will remain in the field until August 2015, installing Siemens turbines for the 288MW project.

The offshore wind farm is scheduled to be completed and commissioned in autumn 2015.
