Petrobras has, together with other members of the Libra Consortium, completed the drilling and testing of the first appraisal well in the Libra area, 3-BRSA-1255-RJS (3-RJS-731), informally known as NW1.

Located in the Northwest portion of the Libra block, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, the well is approximately 4 km southeast of the discovery well, 2-ANP-2A-RJS, and 185 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

According to Petrobras, the drilling results have confirmed the presence of an oil column of approximately 290 meters and carbonate reservoirs that show high porosity and permeability. The two production tests – performed on two different zones – have confirmed the excellent productivity and oil quality (27º API) of these reservoirs.

The Libra Consortium is composed of Petrobras (operator, with 40%), Shell (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%), CNOOC (10%) and the state company Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA).
