Technip’s construction yard in Pori, Finland has built and delivered a 23,000-ton truss spar hull for Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s Heidelberg field development, located in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The detailed hull design and fabrication of 17th spar to be delivered by Technip started in November 2012.

The Heidelberg Spar, with a capacity to produce more than 80,000 barrels of oil and 2.3 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, will be moored in 1620 meters of water.

In 2013, Tecnip selected Lankhorst Ropes Gama 98 deepwater mooring ropes and First Subsea mooring connectors for the project.

Technip’s operating center in Houston, Texas provided the overall project management and engineering.

According to the company, after Lucius, Anadarko’s most technically advanced truss spar to date, Heidelberg is the 8th Spar delivered by Technip to Anadarko.

The Heidelberg development is located approximately 140 miles offshore Louisiana, and consists of Green Canyon blocks 859, 860, 903, 904 and 948, scheduled for first oil in 2016.
