Crane Vessel Rambiz Arrives at Port of IJmuiden

Today the crane vessel Rambiz, towed by the Multratug 4, arrived at the Dutch port of IJmuiden. Today the crane vessel Rambiz, towed by the Multratug 4, arrived at the Dutch port of IJmuiden.

Here it will pick up the OHVS for installation at the Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm, some 23 kilometres off the coast. Installation will take place in the next few days depending on suitable weather windows.

The OHVS already arrived last Sunday in the late hours. This almost 900 tonnes weighing transformer station was built at the Cofely Fabricom construction yard in Hoboken, Belgium. Three companies, Cofely Fabricom, CG and Iemants, were involved with the design, construction and installation of the four-stored station which is 24 metres long, 23 metres wide and 16 metres high. Offshore WIND was present when on February the 2nd the completed OHVS was rolled out to the waterfront, ready to be loaded onto the barge Louis which would be towed to IJmuiden.

The OHVS will collect the 33kV power produced by the 43 turbines and transform it to 150kV so it can be transported by the 26km long export cable to the landfall on the coast at Noordwijk. From here an 8km underground cable will transport the electricity to the onshore substation at Sassenheim. All foundations and cable connections for the wind farm were completed in 2014. Turbine installation will start soon, with full commissioning planned for Q4 this year.
