”K” Line plans big LNG fleet expansion

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (”K” Line) of Japan said it aims to expand its fleet of LNG carriers to 61 vessels by FY 2019.

The shipping giant has or co-owns 41 LNG tanker and it plans to add four by FY 2017, and eighteen by FY 2019, it revealed in its medium-term management plan on Monday.

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha also aims to increase the company’s net income in five years to more than JPY 60 billion ($500.58 million).

The company’s plans also include boosting its total fleet from its current 526 ships to 539 in FY 2017, and 564 in FY 2019.
