Oceanus 2 device is back at A&P Falmouth, Seatricity’s manufacturing partner, for a winter refit in preparation for redeployment to Wave Hub test site.
Oceanus 2 wave energy device has been tested at Wave Hub, which enabled Seatricity to test the installation methodology along with the communication, telemetry and emergency tracking systems.
With Oceanus 2 back in the yard at A&P, Seatricity will evaluate a number of components that have been exposed to the harsh salt water environment and analyse future survivability, reliability and mean time between failures.
The device will be redeployed at Wave Hub in the spring, the company states.
The Oceanus 2 device has a capacity of 162kW, and it works as float that travels up and down with the waves and operates a pump to pressurize sea water which is piped ashore to drive the generators to produce electricity.
