IMES Expands to New Portsmouth Office

IMES, a marine and subsea specialist, has moved to new premises in Portsmouth as the company targets further strategic growth.

The new 5,500 sqft premises, based at Voyager Park on Portfield Road, Portsmouth, feature a load testing area for lifting equipment, a component assembly area and purpose-built painting area.

It will enhance projects carried out for clients in the defence, marine and industrial sectors which includes lifting and inspection services.

IMES, which has a team of 70 across its seven operations, currently employs a local team of six people in Portsmouth.

Jason Smith , chief operating officer at IMES, said: “We have taken this decision to move to new, modern premises with a view to increasing staff levels in order to meet an expected rise in demand for our innovative solutions the length of the south coast.

“This commitment clearly demonstrates the business’ continued confidence in the Portsmouth market, as well as the hard work and dedication put in by members of our team.”

Glenn Ward , service manager at the company’s Portsmouth operation, said: “It’s an exciting time for the business; the move to the new premises has created a much more efficient working environment for staff to complete key defence and inspection projects on time and on budget.”

The company’s Portsmouth operation was previously based at the city’s Portfield Industrial Estate. IMES has additional UK operations in Aberdeen, Bristol, Plymouth, Rosyth and Sheffield. It also has an office in the United States and agents in Singapore, Brazil, Egypt and Holland.
