Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum informed that an LNG supply deal with Russia’s Gazprom has been finalized.

According to a ministry statement, Egyptian Natural Gas Holding company and Gazprom signed a deal under which 35 cargoes of LNG will be supplied to Egypt over a period of 5 years. Deliveries are scheduled to start in the second half of 2015.

EGAS already signed deals with Trafigura for 33 shipments, Vitol for 9 shipments and Noble for another 7 shipments of liquefied natural gas, through a US$2.2 billion tender. Together with six cargoes to be delivered by Algerian Sonatrach, Egypt has secured 90 cargoes in total.

The ministry informed earlier that it is in talks with BP for the supply of additional 21 cargoes of LNG.
