FKAB said that a basic design project contract signed with the Chinese shipyard Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry has become effective and the project is up and running.
The extended basic design includes also the independent cargo tanks, model tests, FEM calculations, but also electrical documents and further development into partly detail design for yards further construction, the company said in a statement.
The independent cargo tanks, with the second barrier and insulation, called LNT A-Box, have been developed by LNG New Technologies (LNT). The technology consists of an IMO independent type-A tank placed in an insulated hold space.
The Chinese shipyard has been commissioned by Landmark Capital to construct the 45,000 cbm medium size LNG carrier.
