Head of the New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services was awarded the title Engineer of the Year by the Prince Friso Engineers Prize held at University of Twente.
Allard van Hoeken studied Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology.
From 1995, he held various positions at Bluewater Energy Services.
From 2009 onwards he has been developing BluTEC, the floating tidal energy platform, for the global market.
Micaela dos Ramos , jury chairman, said: “Van Hoeken knows how to achieve international success by linking technical innovation with business understanding. Passionatly and with strong persuasion, he can inspire others to make the shift from traditional energy to renewable energy.”
