BlueTec tidal floating platform was showcased at Niron Staal, the Netherlands, on March 13, 2015.

The 200 kW platform is a scaled-down demonstration version of BlueTec , which is designed to be installed anywhere in the world and provide power in remote areas and small islands.

Allard van Hoeken , Head of New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services: “This platform, which is built at Niron Staal in a very short time, can be shipped and installed anywhere in the world, to provide clean electricity in remote areas and small islands, replacing expensive and polluting diesel generators.”

The naming ceremony of the floating tidal platform will be held on April 9, 2015, followed by its deployment off Texel island shortly after.

BlueTec represents collaboration between Bluewater, Damen/ Niron Staal, Van Oord/Acta Marine, Tocardo, TKF, Vryhof, NIOZ, Nylacast, Schottel Hydro and Tidal Test Centre.
