The Engineering Integrity Society (EIS) is organizing its 4th meeting on durability and fatigue advances in wind, wave and tidal energy industries.
The aim of the meeting is to emphasize the recent advancements in fatigue and durability assessment for renewable energy structures in wind, wave and tidal industries.
The conference is to provide a platform for the discussion on current technological developments in these areas.
Among others, the presenters at the conference include Ed Mackay, Head of Wave & Tidal Energy Renewables Advisory at DNV GL Energy, with the subject ‘Validation of Loads and Structural Calculations for Wave and Tidal energy converters’ during which Mackay will present the ongoing work at DNV GL to develop and validate methods for loads and structural calculations for both wave and tidal energy converters.
Also, Rory Sinclair from Ramboll will offer a presentation on ‘Tidal Foundation Selection’ that aims to provide to a roadmap for selecting an appropriate foundation that best serves the device and environmental conditions for the site for construction, installation and operation.
The meeting will be held at the Institute for Energy systems at the University of Edinburgh, on April 22, 2015.

The Institute for Energy Systems (IES), among others, delivers research in low carbon energy systems, technology and policy, with academic expertise in resource modelling and measurement, hydrodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, power electronics, and power systems analysis. IES has developed test facilities for wave and tidal energy, in particular the FloWave Combined Wave and Current Test Tank.
