WERPO is arranging the beginning of negotiations in the private and public sectors in Grenada, in order to implement its wave energy technology off the coast of this island country.

In mid-December WERPO announced the partnership agreement with Seedsowers Investors and Developer , appointing Seedsower’s CEO, Hugh Jarvis, as WERPO’s local representative in the Caribbean area.

Jarvis has been in communication with top ranking government personnel in order to introduce WERPO’s sea wave energy technology power stations in the region and help the Government battle the energy crisis, it is stated in WERPO’s press release.

Shmuel Ovadia , Director and inventor of WERPO’s technology, said: “Grenada is a perfect location to introduce sea wave energy as a viable and profitable solution for the rising energy needs by implementing our patented technology.”

According to the company, WERPO plans to set up a local cooperation in order to implement its wave energy system. The first stage of the project is expected to see WERPO’s 10 MW wave power plant, with the second stage expanding to 100 MW.

WERPO, an Israeli wave energy company, has developed technology based on the utilization of sea waves’ rise and fall to yield hydraulic pressure that produces electricity, exploiting the potential of wave speed, height, depth and currents beneath the surface of the water.
