Teekay’s first Floating Accommodation Unit (FAU), Arendal Spirit, has been lifted onto a heavy loader and is en route to Brazil.

According to Teekay, the journey is estimated to take approximately 38 days.

The Arendal Spirit previously secured a 3-year charter contract, including extension options, with Brazil’s state-owned company Petrobras. The vessel will start operations for Petrobras during the first half of 2015.

Arendal Spirit was delivered last month from the COSCO shipyard in Nantong in China.

The cylinder-shaped flotel was designed by Norwegian company Sevan Marine and it has the capacity to accommodate a crew of 490 persons.
