Russian Sovcomflot said that a naming ceremony was held for the fourth vessel in the series of Atlanticmax LNG carriers built by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding shipyard.

Sovcomflot informed in a press release that the SCF Mitre will join its sister vessel LNG carrier SCF Melampus, that was delivered in January, on a long-term contract with Royal Dutch Shell.

Two previous vessels, the Veliky Novgorod and Pskov are operating under a long-term contract with Gazprom.

The SCF Mitre, with a load capacity of 170,200 cubic meters, has been constructed to operate in Arctic conditions. It includes a triple-fuel diesel-electric propulsion system.

In addition to the reinforced Ice2 class, ships in this series are equipped to work in low temperatures and in harsh climatic conditions and are able to ship gas from most existing export terminals year-round.

The vessel will be put into operation during the month of April, SCF said.
