Aker Solutions has released a response regarding yesterday’s reports in Norwegian media about the company’s plans to further reduce its MMO workforce.

Namely, the company said in February it will be cutting another 300 jobs in its maintenance, modification and operations (MMO) division off Norway due to a decline in activity caused by falling oil prices and cost-cutting by oil companies.

However, this week’s reports, according to Aker Solutions, imply the the company is slashing additional jobs: “Some Norwegian media this week published stories giving the impression that Aker Solutions yesterday announced plans to reduce capacity in its MMO business in Norway by an additional 300 positions. This is incorrect.

“Aker Solutions has not made any announcements since February 18 about new capacity adjustments in the MMO business and has no plans to do so,” said the company in a statement.
