The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) informed that AS Norske Shell has been given green light to use Island Constructor for activities at well 6407/09-A-555-H on the Draugen field.

Draugen is an oil field in the Norwegian Sea in 250 metres of water. The field has been developed using a fixed concrete facility with an integrated deck. Stabilised oil is stored in tanks in the base of the facility.

Designed by Ulstein Design AS (Ulstein SX 121) and launched in February 2008 from the Ulstein Verft shipyards in Norway, the Island Constructor (Hull no. 279) is Island Offshore’s offshore construction and well intervention vessel.

The Island Constructor received the PSA’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in September 2010.

The vessel is equipped with a diesel electric power plant serving two main azimuth thrusters, two retractable thrusters and two side thrusters.

The DP3 vessel’s main activities are Well Intervention Services with Subsea Lubricator System (LWI), Subsea Construction and Equipment Installation (OCV), Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) and ROV Services.
