The following images bring you the latest developments from the scene of the Panama Canal expansion project. The Panama Canal is undergoing a USD 5.2 billion expansion with the installation of the third set of locks well underway.
Upon completion, the two new lock complexes will have a total of 16 gates, eight in the Pacific and eight in the Atlantic.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2015, 16 months behind schedule due to work suspension triggered by cost overruns.
