Sempra Energy’s unit Cameron LNG, which is building natural gas liquefaction and export facilities at its existing terminal in Louisiana, is moving forward with the project.
Cameron LNG said that a pile rig is currently drilling the first of 18000 production piles on which the liquefaction project facilities will be built.
According to the company, the liquefaction project is now moving away from the soil stabilization work into actual initial site construction.
Cameron LNG recently won an approval from U.S. DOE to export LNG to free trade agreement countries in a volume up to 2.95 million metric tons per annum for a period of 20 years.
The company expects to have the first liquefaction train completed and put into service in 2017, with second and third coming online in 2018 bringing the capacity up to 14.95 mtpa of LNG.
