Canada’s most westerly province British Colombia expects first final investment decision on one of B.C.’s several proposed LNG export project’s this summer.
“ A few years ago we had two organisations looking to export LNG from British Colombia, now we have 18 proposals for the construction of LNG export plants, both large and small, ” Rich Coleman, B.C.’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Gas Development said at the IHS CERAWeek conference in Houston on Wednesday.
When asked about which LNG project he sees as the first in British Colombia, without naming the project, he said, “ one of the project’s is progressing well and I expect an FID this summer. ”
“ I believe that, due to increased demand that is coming and the work we have done over the past years, it will result in some LNG plants in British Colombia ,” he added.
Some of the world’s biggest oil nad gas players are among the proponents to develop LNG projects in B.C. including Shell, Petronas and Chevron.
