Dredging of Peel marina and the transportation of silt to the temporary storage facility at Poortown will continue this Saturday.

The dredging and haulage contractors and Department of Infrastructure staff will be operating to a similar timetable as weekdays.

Dredging is scheduled to start at 07:30am, although no lorries will depart the quayside before 08:00am tomorrow. Road sweepers will be deployed throughout the day and work will finish at 5:30pm.

Silt from the dredging project is being transferred from Peel to a bunded pit, which is lined with an impervious membrane.

The storage site and run-off will be carefully monitored to ensure that the measures taken to control the risk of adverse impact on the surrounding environment are working well.
