Twenty of the total 40 wind turbines at the Trianel’s Borkum West offshore wind farm have been commissioned.

Since February, the offshore wind farm has been producing power. The power connection to the mainland was made in December through TenneT’s transformer platform DolWin Alpha.

The offshore wind farm is located in the North Sea, approximately 45 kilometers off the coast of the island of Borkum.

The commissioning of all forty 5MW AREVA M5000 wind turbines will be completed by the summer. For commissioning of the wind turbines, AKER WAYFARER was chartered. The 157-meter-long special ship is equipped with two heavy-duty cranes and has a crew of up to ten technicians on board.
