FKAB starts Fure West LNG conversion design

In order to be able to meet the new SECA rules for existing vessels, FKAB participated in an EU project together with Furetank that intends to convert its chemical tanker to run on LNG.

In order to be able to meet the new SECA rules for existing vessels, FKAB participated in an EU project together with Furetank that intends to convert its chemical tanker to run on LNG.

FKAB has together with Furetank and the engine manufacturer participated in a hazard identification study governed by Bureau Veritas in Paris. It was performed to examine the accomplishment of the project and application of tentative rules.

FKAB informed in a statement that the HAZID has now been performed and approved.

The company has now started the design of the conversion and is providing all necessary drawings and documents, which have to be approved by the classification society, it added.
