Energy Wales Unit team has been created to identify core energy policies and delivery priorities in Wales, including marine energy as one of the key areas.
Edwina Hart, Welsh Minister for Economy, Science and Transport is updating energy policy objectives after after consultation with stakeholders.
The Minister has created Energy Wales Unit that will be tasked to work with the industry to support growth in the energy and environment sector by updating and developing energy policy to fully reflect Welsh ambitions and the entirety of the energy system.
Energy Wales Unit is expected to enable clarity on the range of skills, supply chain, business and R&D support needed to harness Wales’ energy potential.
The policy includes low carbon generation, infrastructure, demand reduction and the fossil fuel transition.

In the written statement, Edwina Hart said: “Some of the core policy and delivery areas that I have asked the team to prioritise include marine energy (including demonstration zones and tidal range), grid, fossil fuels, onshore wind along with a low-carbon systems focus for our innovation support.”
