Russian energy giant Gazprom said its sales of liquefied natural gas more than doubled in 2014, as compared to the year before.
Gazprom sold 52 cargoes of the chilled gas totalling 159.6 tn BTU, versus 24 cargoes or 72.1 tn BTU it sold in 2013.
The company’s LNG sales were up in 2014 due to the increase in the volume of purchases from third parties, Gazprom said in its full-year report on Wednesday.
In 2014, LNG sold under the Sakhalin-2 project, Russia’s only LNG export plant, amounted to 53.1 tn BTU.
Gazprom’s net profit plunged 86 percent to RUB 159,004 million in 2014 due to fall in the value of the rouble and a dispute with Ukraine.
According to the report, Gazprom’s supplies of gas to European countries under long-term contracts totalled 146.6 bcm of gas, which was 9.2% lower than in 2013.
