Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam, a part of the Damen Shipyards Group, delivered this month the Seismic Research Support Vessel (SRSV) 7-Stars to offshore support service provider Rederij Groen, in Dutch harbour town of Scheveningen.
According to Maaskant Shipyards, the 35-metre long offshore chaser, 7-Stars will join Rederij Groen’s fleet of almost 30 vessels, which also includes sister vessels of the same series; 7-Oceans and 7-Seas. The three vessels were designed in close cooperation with both Rederij Groen and their customer.
The major task of a chaser is to ensure that other shipping, mainly fishing ships, will keep distance from Seismic Survey Vessels engaged in offshore exploration.
Commenting the long lasting relationship between Maskaant and Rederij Groen Maaskant Shipyards Director, Frits van Dongen said: “This really is a proud day for all the team at Maaskant. And of course we look forward to maintaining and servicing Rederij Groen’s fleet in the future.”
