Clinton and Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) sign a contract for Bay of Bothnia Raahe – Oulu – Kemi Hydrographic Survey.

The vessels MV Northern Wind and MV Lode will be used during the mapping survey. The survey will be conducted with the multibeam system Kongsberg EM 2040D and motion sensor Kongsberg Seatex Seapath 330+ which are permanently installed on the vessels, Clinton informed.

A comprehensive MBES survey of the areas is critical for the efficient routing and safe navigation of all types of shipping especially with regards to deep draught shipping. It is also important to know the bathymetry widely, also outside regular shipping routes, due to winter navigation and alternative routing through ice in Bay of Bothnia, the company said.

The results of these hydrographic surveys will be used in updating nautical charts and associated navigational publications.

Clinton Marine Survey CEO and Program Manager for BBROK 2015, Martin Wikmar comments: “This award of contract has confirmed Clinton as a provider of high resolution and efficient surveys to our end clients and will continue our path towards to the long term goal, to establish Clinton as a provider of high quality large scale surveys according to Standards for Hydrographic Surveys (IHO S-44 Ed5 and FSIS-44).”
