StormGeo, a provider of decision support services and products to support weather sensitive operations, has announced OceanWatch and SpillWatch.

According to StormGeo, the new services enable oil and gas companies and renewable energy companies to make informed assessments of operational and environmental risks during drilling and to understand how ocean conditions affect their enterprises.

OceanWatch is a modular system that monitors ocean currents and the subsea environment to provide continuous, real-time, site specific monitoring and forecasting with 24/7 expert assistance and emergency support.

OceanWatch is an integrated, turnkey solution that can be installed and applied to any offshore structure and location in the world.

The SpillWatch module uses models, simulation tools and sensors to track and predict the trajectory and fate of accidental oil spills. Providing quick data response, a 3D oil spill model integrates an accurate representation of oil chemistry and physics with high-quality ocean and atmospheric data for any region.

Kent Zehetner , CEO of StormGeo, explains: “The OceanWatch service fits well with StormGeo’s goal to provide our customers with ‘one address’ for access to the best available information on the physical environment during both planning and operations.

“As the oil and gas business is moving into more environmentally sensitive areas, the need for better understanding and control within the physical environment, including currents, is increasing, and StormGeo will continue to develop innovative and user-friendly solutions to help our customers make knowledge-based decisions.”
