Falkland Oil and Gas Limited (FOGL) has informed that the the technical issues relating to the blow-out preventer (BOP) control system on the 14/20-1 “Isobel Deep” well, offshore the Falkland Islands, have now been fully resolved and drilling operations on Isobel Deep have restarted.

Premier temporarily suspended operations on Isobel Deep due to problems detected on the BOP on April 24, 2015.

Whilst these repairs were being undertaken, the rig Eirik Raude was utilised to drill top-hole sections and set conductors on the Chatham and Jayne East Locations.

The rig spudded and suspended Jayne East well on April 29, 2015 and spudded and suspended the Chatham well on May 4, 2015.

On Jayne East, (FOGL 40% interest) the 36″ conductor was set at a depth of 541metres and the well temporarily suspended. Drilling on Jayne East will restart when the rig returns after the Humpback well in the South Falklands Basin.

According to FOGL, the Isobel Deep well is expected to take approximately 15 days to complete.

FOGL says that it is fully carried through the costs of the Isobel Deep and Jayne East wells by Premier Oil and Rockhopper Exploration and therefore, it is not impacted by these operational issues.
